It is hard to dominate a racing circuit like IndyCar and I was especially impressed with his recent victory in Alabama starting that far back in the field. The one thing working against him on Sunday is a starting position of fourth in the biggest race of the year, but some of his toughest competition is starting further down the grid. Newgarden's best finish in the Indy 500 in recent years was third in 2016.

2018 Coca-Cola 600 Winner

The easy pick to win Sunday night's Coca-Cola 600 would be Kevin Harvick at +180 odds. He has already posted five Cup Series victories in the first 12 point races on the schedule and he is coming off a victory last Saturday night at Charlotte in the exhibition All-Star Race. There is also some solid value in Kyle Busch at +450 odds given his three previous trips to Victory Lane this season.

Betting on NASCAR - Who's A Great Futures Bet?

I am going a bit deeper on the list for my top pick in this race with Martin Truex Jr. at +550 odds to win. Following the defending Cup Series Champ on the Coca-Cola 600 betting board are Kyle Larson at +700, Brad Keselowski at +1000 and the trio of Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney at +1200.

One of the main reasons I am stretching the odds a bit with Truex is the value he brings to the table in this race as the defending champ. Driving the No. 78 Toyota, he has placed within the top five in seven of his first 12 races this season highlighted by an earlier victory at Fontana. Coming into Charlotte, current form was solid with a fourth-place finish at Dover followed by a runner-up finish two weeks ago at Kanas. The biggest value that Truex adds to his odds to win on Sunday night is a pair of victories at this track in his last four runs. He won the Coca-Cola 600 in 2016 and then went on to win the second race at Charlotte last season.
